Lone Witness Atlanta Justice Rachel Dylan 9780764219818 Books Reviews
- Lone Witness is a fast-paced legal romantic suspense novel that will have the readers' hearts racing throughout the entire novel! This book is full of twists-and-turns and will keep the readers guessing. Deadly Proof (the first book in the series) was amazing, but I think Lone Witness is even better. Prosecutor Sophie Dawson is dealing with the dangers of serving as the key witness in the double homicide trial of a powerful gang leader's younger brother while at the same time trying to prosecute a senior bank manager from a well-known local bank who is accused of stealing from his clients. As Sophie faces numerous threats to her life, private security guard Cooper Knight is enlisted to serve as her bodyguard.
Lone Witness can be read as a stand alone novel, but I think would be even more enjoyable to read Deadly Proof first, since the story follows the journey of two of the secondary characters from the first novel. I have enjoyed watching how the group of friends have come together in the first novel, and how all the characters still play a role in the second book. However, if you have not already read Deadly Proof, the author provides enough backstory so that readers will not feel lost reading Lone Witness.
Rachel Dylan weaves the characters' faith seamlessly into the novel and creates a powerful, authentic story that her readers will not want to put down. Faith and forgiveness are important themes in this novel.
I had to laugh when Sophie's friend Mia described what Sophie was looking for in a guy. She said, "You want a knight in shining armor along with the happily ever after. You want a smoking hot, muscle-bound, romantic, off-the-charts smart guy with a great sense of humor and a steady job he loves who's ready to settle down like, right now, and start a family...and oh, let's not forget he has to share your faith. Does that about cover it?" Sometimes we're so busy looking for perfection that we don't realize the perfect person for us may already be in our lives, flaws and all.
Fans of authors Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Elizabeth Goddard will love this latest novel by Rachel Dylan. I definitely recommend this book and can't wait to start reading Breach of Trust (the third book in the series). Rachel Dylan is quickly becoming one of my new favorite romantic suspense authors. - Prosecutor Sophie Dawson enjoys working for the Fulton County D.A.'s office. She is determined to bring criminals to justice for the victims who have lost their savings. When she becomes the sole witness to a double homicide perpetrated by the brother of the leader of a vengeful gang, Cooper Knight is hired by her father to protect her. Together, they try to figure out how to solve her current case while Cooper tries to keep her safe to testify at the murder trial.
As threats escalate, it becomes clear that they can't trust anyone but each other. In addition to the intriguing storyline, I love Rachel Dylan's Atlanta Justice series because I am familiar with the setting. I can't wait to read the final book in the series. "Breach of Trust" will be released on February 5, 2019. - Lone Witness (Atlanta Justice Book #2)
Great storyline. The author grabs you from the start and keeps pulling you in until you are wholly invested in the story and the characters. Not a predictable storyline either. Kept me guessing until the end. Each time I thought I knew who was responsible, the whole theory would get turned on its head. Not one of those stories either that just throws red herrings out to keep you guessing. When you finally get to the end, you realize it was there the whole time and just overlooked. Like those court cases on TV when in the last 10 minutes one of the lawyers throw down a piece of evidence that clinched the verdict. Guess I shouldn't expect less with a real-life lawyer as author. - Book 2 was written a little better than the first, with dialogue getting better. Exciting story with characters you can follow. The books are way overpriced, however, so I will only continue when I see a deal on this author.
- I enjoyed this book completely, it held my attention on each page and the twist and turns made it difficult to put down. I did read it in two settings and look forward to more from this author.
- Fast paced full of suspense and adventure. I love Ms. Dylan's books an can't wait to read the next in this series. Her legal elements feel so real it's like watching a tv show.
- Another fast paced, moving novel in the Atlanta Justice series! I love how the characters in these books are such good-hearted people. Looking forward to the next one!
- Another awesome book by Rachel Dylan! There are plenty of twists and turns that will keep you guessing throughout the entire book! Rachel does a great job with legal suspense with a touch of romance thrown in - plus faith. I love her books and I highly recommend!
